Views 2019 - Dear Reader

Production of collective choreographic work and a series of reading circles as part of the nomination for the Views 2019 Award organized by the Zachęta National Gallery of Art

As part of the exhibition Views 2019 – Deutsche Bank Award Kem will present the performance Dear Reader. The script for the performance was prepared on the basis of the text materials collected during the workshops led by Kem with the participation of befriended persons. The performance addresses the performativity of Polish language and focuses on moments of linguistic violence; tenderness; pleasure and resistance, in the context of the changes taking place in the public debate in Poland towards minorities.

The performance premiered at Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, as a part of Kem’s participation in the exhibition “Views 2019 – Deutsche Bank Award” curated by Michał Jachuła in cooperation with Maria Świerżewska. Later it was shown during Up to Date Festival 2019 in Białystok, as part of the accompanying program curated by: Ewa Tatar, Aleksandra Kluczyk and Sylwia Narewska.
